GenoME has identified novel DNA methylation biomarkers which are highly differential in pancreatic cancer blood samples.
Furthermore, they are elevated in precursor lesions and stay elevated in the associated cancer tissue. PanME™ is primed for early disease blood-based detection. It is is analysed by digital PCR.
The current blood test – CA19-9 – is suboptimal, only elevated in ~50% early-stage pancreatic cancer, 10-20% of the population do not express CA19-9 and will never have a positive test despite a cancer diagnosis. CA19-9 may also be elevated in benign conditions when no cancer is present, but have similar symptoms to pancreatic cancer.
Current 5 year survival for pancreatic cancer is only 7%. PanME™ mission is to identify pancreatic cancer patients earlier so they may receive more treatment options, to improve quality of life and survival.
